Being a South African you tend to forget most of the beauty and colours of your country. I am a South African and it’s hard to find African things in Europe. My inspiration is my country and my continent.

I enjoy designing and 'clothing' my properties as I call it. Putting pieces in the house, different spaces and love to see the changes to the mood that even the smallest change can bring. I like to develop clothes to make a colourful bed, sofas or chairs, long before they called it a throw.

I can see instantly what I want the place to look like and my clients will always say "The way you work is so brilliant. You always seem to have the ideas which become popular yet remain individual to you".

My spaces need to be practical. I had children growing up, pets, husbands, in-laws, all the day-to-day traffic of a normal home. I just love beautiful things and good taste. You touch, you feel, you smell, the day and night light. I feel it in my body if it’s right or not.

I travel a lot and I see and remember. Everything has a place in my palette, tradition, contemporary, the loud and the outrageous but always in balance.

In the end I do not sleep unless I satisfy my client and my own ambition.
